So I apologize for my lack of posts. Actually I have been doing quite well and keeping busy. My training is back on track and I am feeling confident again about my race in 3 weeks from today. I have fully moved into the new pad and am getting settled. I am finding new places to run and I'll start looking for some new riding opportunities soon. I've been very spoiled in Hanna City in regards to running and riding options.
I spent the morning yesterday at the Dragon-Tri in Pekin. The guy who puts it on is a friend of mine soI offered to help out. I also thought it would be a great learning tool for me about transitions and such for my upcoming races. I worked the water station coming out of the bike-run transition so I got to see it all. I think I picked up on some tips that I will try. Who knows, maybe next year I'll do the Tri thing.
I plan on getting a nice Tempo ride in tomorrow then the bike is off to Little Ades for a thourough tune-up and check it over. That way if I have any issues, I still have time to get it back in. I'll be riding to work this week and hitting the RIT on Thursday so I'm not in any big rush to get my bike back.
I think the Proctor Classic is out. I could spend that time better doing something else like a nice long run or maybe even a brick session. I'll have the full plan up tomorrow. I am putting some emphasis on my running since I missed so much of it with the ribs.
Lastly I want to congratulate my man, Howie for his podium finish at the Metro 12 Hour race in Milwaukee yesterday. Look out 24/9......The Milkman is comin'!

Race Weekend Down
And it went off very well if I say so myself. Saturday was the DH and MTNX and it was some very good racing. Numbers were down slightly but, I partly attribute that to Father's Day weekend and of course gas prices could have played a part. No worries though, everybody had a blast and no serious injuries.
Sunday numbers were fair. The looming sky's didn't keep many away and those that came weren't disapointed. The rain was brief and played no role in the days races. Most of the races actually took place in sunlight, but steamy conditions. Next race up in the I-74 is the Jubilee Jam next month. Until then...I'm getting my ride on and back to training hard. I might even sneak in some riding/camping between now and then.
Had a nice run this morning at an EZ pace. It was actually my first real run in some time. The ribs felt pretty good so now I know I can start crankin' it up a notch and try and gain some ground. The rest of the week hopefully plays out like this:
Tuesday:4-mid
Tempo ride 22 mile loop
Wednesday:days (training)
Tempo run 25 minutes
Thursday:days (Training)
EZ run 30 minutes
Friday:off
Long Ride 4 hours
Saturday:off
Trail run at Jubilee

Now I'm Feelin' It!
Just got back from my first hard effort since the rib thing. I went out on my 22 mile loop for a TT to really test myself and see how much ground I've lost the last 10 days. With a grin on my face I can say "not much". I was a little slower today but by less than 3 minutes. All things considered, I'm happy with that. Tomorrow I'll take an easy spin on the RIT and on Friday I'll get an EZ run in before Saturday's Steamboat Classic. The Classic is a run I really need to get in. My goals for it have obviously changed, but it will be a good training run for me. I haven't got nearly as many running mile under my belt the last 10 days as I would like, but running took me a bit longer to tolerate than the biking.
On to PAMBA news......This weekend is the first PAMBA hosted I-74 race with the Farmdale Frenzy. We'll have DH and MTNX on Saturday and XC on Sunday. Everything should be ready to roll right now. I just hope the weather cooperates for us!
Oh, and I am now fully moved into the new pad in West Peoria. Stag and I have the place rockin' and have what shouldbe a dining room dedicated to .......BIKES. It has also allowed me to start commuting to work when I work days. NO more big gas $$ and I can cancel my parking deck which will save me another $35/mo.

Recovered?
At least enough to start my training up full swing again. I'll ease into it this week in hopes that I can run Steamboat this weekend. Obviously my goals for that have changed now, but it will still be a nice temp run for the week.
Last night I sat down to work on my next 5 weeks of training leading up to July 16th and the Touring Cyclist Bi. A lot more speed work and some brick training thrown in for good measure. More of my running will be done on a track now for some interval type stuff as well. I want to make sure my Long workouts stay strong though too.
The rest of this week will go like this:
Tuesday/days
EZ Run 30 minutes
Wednesday/ 2-10
Tempo ride-22 miles
Thursday/ 2-10
RIT-2 hours
Friday/ days
EZ run/mtb in the evening
Saturday/ off
Steamboat classic 4 miler

Quick Update
Well, the ribs are better. I actually got on the road bike and tried it out. A little uncomfortable, but not painfull. That means I can get back to hitting the bike at least. I think the running may take a few more days. Also my first tri specific shorts came in at Little Ades. They're groovy.
I'm almost completely moved. I have a bed now so that's a good thing. Tomorrow I'll start actually setting my room up more and hanging some blinds. The plan is to stay there Sunday night for the first time.
Sunday is also a group ride at Farmdale. We'll give a guided tour of the race course for next weekends Frenzy. Now we just need to finish up the MTNX course.

Weekly Schedule on Hold
Due to a rib injury suffered at the hands of a wheelbarrow while working on the x-course today. I was goofing around and ran down one of the jump landings pushing it empty when it hit a mound of dirt or something stopping it on a dime and driving the handle into my ribs. I thought I got impaled! Luckily, the CIC is a murse. He checked me over and thought I was o.k. I'm just very sore and the ribs are pretty tender right now. Normally I would try and run tomorrow, but I think I'll try a ride instead. When I can breathe pain free, I'll try a run. I'll have an update tomorrow. This is a terrible time for me to need to take time off. These last 6 weeks were going to be important. Hopefully It will get better FAST!

Here's the BGR crew working on the first jump.

The Lost Week
Yeah, I haven't done squat since Monday when I hit the RIT. The rest of the week has been moving, plumbing, Tiffsters b-day, trailcare, range qualification and work. The good news is that there is now light at the end of the tunnel. One more good day on the MTNX tomorrow and I can relax a bit. I still have some errands to run for the race weekend, mostly some phone calls actually. Next week is nights so that means I should have plenty of time to get some quality workouts in and get some things moved into the house.
Speaking of the house, what a debacle that has been. Things are shaping up, but we are experiencing some plumbing woes right now. Thankfully I'm not staying there yet. Poor Lester though, what a trooper.
Next week will be mostly some Tempo efforts and some easy spins. Nothing more that 90 minutes though to capitalize on time. More details tomorrow night.
